Dear families of English Bluff Elementary School:

We would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our great little school of English Bluff. As a parent or guardian of a child attending English Bluff, you are automatically a member of the PAC, and we encourage you to please contact us if you have any questions at all about our school or our community.  If we don’t know the answer, we will help you find it!

The functions of the PAC are to enhance the educational experience of the students and to strengthen the communication between parents and the school. We do this by fundraising for school related programs and equipment, holding special events and providing speakers and workshops for both parent and student education. Last year our role became increasing more important and exciting as we began our transition to an IB World school.

Throughout the year, the PAC will organize fundraisers and school spirit events. These fundraisers, such our twice-monthly Hot Lunch program and the annual EB Spell-A-Thon, are essential to providing enrichment to the core academic curriculum. Over the past few years EB’s spirit events have included family movie nights, spring carnivals and parent pub nights. Funds raised go towards such things as field trip costs, speaker workshops for parents/students, extra-curricular programs for the students such as yoga, new sports jerseys, sports equipment and playground refurbishments.

These fundraisers and social events also create a wonderful sense of community that prevails at our school and provides your children with a well-rounded school experience. We are always looking for some extra help and it is a great way to meet other families at the school. If you can spare an hour or two we can use you! And if you have ideas you’d like to help implement, please let us know.

The PAC will hold a general meeting, open to all parents, each school term. At the meetings we discuss upcoming events, budgeting decisions, get an update from our principal and also let you know what is happening at the district level. The date for the first PAC meeting is Thursday September 28th at 6:30 pm in the school library.  We hope to see you there!
