English Bluff Library Link – Excellent Resources recommended by Mrs. Elkin
Hello English Bluff Families!
Ms. Krug and Ms. Elkin would like to welcome you to another school year. Last year the focus in our library, and many libraries across the district, was to create vibrant, interesting, and equitable collections of books and resources that are “mirrors, windows, and sliding glass doors”. One major change has been gentrifying the non-fiction section by removing the Dewey Decimal system and replacing it with genres based on the IB’s transdisciplinary themes. If you have any questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact one of us.
This year we are transitioning back to opening the library before school. For the time being it will be open on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, from 8:20 to the first bell. We will open the outside library door. Students will only use this door and will head outside to meet their line-ups. This time is for reading, quiet play with lego or other building sets, board games or cards with friends, drawing or colouring, or other library-appropriate activities. All grades are welcome but parents may want to accompany kindergarteners until they get a bit more used to school rules and routines.
Please follow Ms. Krug and I on Instagram and twitter to see some of the things we do in the library or just to stay in touch. Also, we welcome questions about the library and library programming at any time, just send us an email at the addresses below.
This is going to be a great year and we look forward to meeting everyone,
Jessica Elkin and Zoe Krug
